Technical Product Information

CORRPASSIV® 4900

Anticorrosion system for industrial use

The CORRPASSIV® 4900 coating system consists of two products:

1. CORRPASSIV® Primer

- Ennobles surface by displacing corrosion potential
- Passivates metal surface by forming a stable oxide layer (Fe2O3)

2. CORRPASSIV® Top Coat

- Sealing barrier layer
- Excellent resistance to mechanical stresses

Advantages over conventional systems:

3. Uses:

Can be used on all metals such as constructional steels, stainless steels, galvanised steels, copper etc. in the industrial sector (steel construction, pipeline construction and many other fields). Please ask our applications technologists about use on other substrates. For aluminium we recommend the specially developed product CORRPASSIV®.

4. Application:

CORRPASSIV® Primer can be applied like any other primer (brush, roller, spray). To guarantee the full anticorrosion effect it must be applied to the cleaned metal surface. The following guide values for preliminary treatment of the substrate apply:

When using the primer as a tank coating or for underwater uses, it is important to work with a surface quality of SA 2½.

CORRPASSIV® Top Coat can be applied in the film thicknesses necessary for the specific use. Here too, all the usual methods of application are possible. If the component to be coated has to satisfy higher demands with regard to light fastness and colour fastness, the two-component EP top coat can be overpainted with PVC or PU systems. In this case the film thickness of the two-component EP coat can be reduced by the amount of the PVC or PU top coat.

5. Test results

Replacement of a surface-tolerant two-component EP system by CORRPASSIV® 4900.
The surfaces to be treated were cleaned with water and manually derusted in accordance with Standard St 3 (DIN 55928 Part 4).
