Yes. The determination of the "corrosion" potential is very much dependant
upon the measuring configuration. If you arrange for a very precise
measurement, with very low current density involved (mikro-amps/cm², and
tenth of mikro-amps), than you will not measure a potential very much
different from the normal steel potential. However, if you measure in the
milli-amp range, the polyaniline-caoted steel will show a much higher potential.
Moreover, if you measure the Volta potential, you can easily see the
shifted potential in the range of +300 to +500 mV (vs. H2-electrode) under
the polyaniline/top coat coating system.
