| Technology: The nanotechnology of manufacturing, processing and using the Organic Metal Polyaniline The solution of the processing problem of conductive polymers and even more, the Organic Metal Polyaniline, due to their insolubility and unmoldability requires a complex technology. Ormecon has developed an integrated 3-level technology platform comprising chemistry, processing (dispersion) and application, in each of them basic and even theoretical insight has been generated, as well as patents, detailed practical know how and commercial products based on proprietary industrial procedures. In chemistry, a unique complex and well reproducible synthetic route to dispersible conductive polymer powders has been developed and scaled up. The chemical and crystal structure is a further object of research, having led to very valuable results. In physics, the electron transport mechanism, surface and interfacial properties, the nanometallic character and the (self-organized) dispersion structures have been and are under investigation. The thermodynamics aspects (general dispersion theory, theory of solubility and insolubility of conductive polymers) have also successfully been investigated. In processing (dispersion), the basic and theoretical insights have been reduced to practice and unique dispersion procedures have been developed and scaled up. For application of the Organic Metal, ready-to-use formulations (various dispersions, paints, lacquers, blends) have been developed, a unique diverse and broad formulation know how has been generated. Ormecon has built a complete infrastructure for a competent technical service for customers in various application areas, which also enables us to develop new and better products under realistic conditions. For most applications areas, we can offer at least pre-industrial application possibilities. Many of them require a deep electrochemical understanding: our electrochemistry laboratory is one of the most modern in the world, and we generate as well new basic insights as also a lot of practical information. |
